. No. 3 Kunle Bode street,
Festac Town,
Lagos State.
23rd September, 2017.
Dear Tim,
I am glad to have heard from you after a very long time. It's ten years already. Yeah! I need not ask how you are faring. Your letter does all the talking. I am glad you have gained so much wealth, mentally and financially. Your achievement underscores the fact that a good business is more profitable than a government paid job, especially when the pay is in its five digits.
From my own end, so many things have been happening to me as a government worker, especially following the economic recession the nation was and is still plunged into. I basically struggle to make ends meet due to my large family size.
Just recently, the government have begun to owe workers and i am affected. I haven't been paid in two(2) months. Yet i have to survive.
I envy you! You talked about how you have built several houses and how you have ventured into real estate. That is some feat! I still live in a rented apartment for the fact that i am not yet financially strong.
All i can do now is pay you a visit some day, so you can teach me your line of business. I would like to do it part time and see how i fare.
Thanks for your show of interest in me after a long time.
Yours lovely,
Godsent.

I Learnt my lesson the hard way
My mother always told me that I was going to be just like the boy who cried wolf. She always said one day I was going to cry and no one would listen. My favorite was crying sick from school. My sister always told me that there would be one day that I cried sick and no one would believe me. I never paid her any attention, for I was a year older and I knew it all at the age of 13. However, I would learn my lesson the hard way.
During my junior high school years, I was never particularly fond of going to school, but at my age who was. I enjoyed staying home and tuning into all my favorites, Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake, and Jenny Jones. Since these show only came on during school hours, I was often "sick" so I could stay home and watch what was to me, must see t.v. I was successful at convincing my mother that I was ill and should stay home most times, but then she begin to catch on to my sickness game. I think it was the fact that I was perfectly healthy by the time she was home from work.
Every morning it was my ritual to convince my mother that I was not feeling well. I would tell her that I was in terrible pain and would most likely be sent home early anyway. I watched her face go narrow it seemed. A face that said "not again Peter", or "what is this the third time this week". I could tell by her faces that this was getting old. Soon she begin to ignore my routine. But I still tried. Although I knew she would make me go to school, it was habit. I would clutch my stomach, leave cracker bits in the toilet posing as vomit, or I'd complain of earaches, toothaches, headaches, and at times whole body aches, just to get out of going to school.
"Peter, why aren't you up for school yet," I heard my mothers voice roar from another room. This was a voice I had never heard in the morning. This voice usually came with broken things, such as curfews and glass. This voice almost made me no cry.
Eventually, I quietly refused to answer and for the second time she asked again;nothing mama, I answered. Suddenly, I heard her crying loudly before I rushed inside, I saw mama lying at the ground unmovable with a note on her chest with no life remain.
I screamed as loud as I can; I eventually saw my sister and some neighborhood enter. My sister took the note from my mother's chest as the note reads, "I delebrately killed myself because I can't face my son's naughty any longer, his father left me with nothing but sorrow so him also, I wish him well and this is what his stubborn profit him. Goodbye to you all.
As my sister finishing reading the letter, I burst in tears as I cried endlessly learning on my sister's shoulder begging him. It pains me also as she cried with me.
I said to her, I am sorry, I really regret my deeds as "I learnt my lesson the hard way".
